Rebirth of Chang'e

An interpretation of the legend of Chang'e, the Chinese moon goddess. By drinking an elixir of immortality, Chang'e ascends past the heavens to reside permanently on the moon. As she symbolizes fertility, growth, and purity, the cracks and sprouting trees from her body allow her to be one with the land, as well as signify her rebirth. Thus, Chang'e represents the growth, turbulence, and acceptance of one's cultural identity. This exploration uses watercolor to emulate a dreamlike and soft mood.
