The Four Mythical Beasts

A depiction of the Four Mythical Beasts in ancient Chinese mythology, consisting of the dragon, black turtle, phoenix, and tiger. Each creature represents a season and a core virtue in Chinese culture, all united to guard the heavens. The unification of the creatures is symbolic of the fulfillment of accepting one's whole cultural identity. The piece also explores traditional Chinese imagery and watercolor painting with an influence from Frida Kahlo's vibrancy and Cathy Lu's Chinese symbolisms.
